FROM THE PRESIDENT

As we celebrate 37 years of the Sylacauga City Schools Foundation, I am reminded of
the incredible impact that happens when a community comes together with one shared
purpose: supporting our students. For more than three decades, this Foundation has
strengthened classrooms, empowered teachers, and opened doors of opportunity for
the children of Sylacauga — and that work continues today with even greater
momentum.

Each year, because of the generosity of our partners and supporters, we are able to
fulfill innovative classroom grants that bring learning to life for students. Whether
through our community participation in our 5K/10K Run Event, Breakfast with Santa,
Dollars for Scholars, the Aggie Walk Brick Campaign, or our Chair program, every
contribution helps create learning experiences that would not be possible otherwise.
Your investment truly touches students in every school, every year.

Our mission remains steady and clear: To enrich the quality of education for all students
in Sylacauga City Schools by providing meaningful financial support to teachers,
programs, and classrooms. Guided by our Strategic Plan, we continue to work toward
four key goals:

• Continued Growth of Our Endowment
• Asset Management
• Awarding Grants Directly Impacting Student Achievement
• Diverse and Engaged Board of Community Leaders

Through faithful stewardship of these investments, the Foundation has awarded more
than $1.4 million in grants since its inception — a milestone made possible only through
the unwavering support of individuals, families, businesses, and alumni who believe in
our students’ potential.

As we look ahead, I invite you to join us in continuing this important work. Your
partnership — whether through financial support, participation in our events, or simply
helping share the story of the Foundation — makes a real difference. Together, we can
ensure that Sylacauga City Schools remain a place where students are inspired,
teachers are supported, and excellence continues to grow.

Thank you for believing in our mission and in the bright future of our students.

Warmly,
Laura Strickland
President

FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

On behalf of the Sylacauga City Schools Foundation, thank you for your support – past, present and future.

This Foundation makes great things happen from pre-kindergarten through graduation. By partnering with us, you become an investor in the future of our students. Sylacauga City Schools Foundation works to enhance the school system as a whole by providing the opportunity for teachers to receive supplemental funding through grant requests.

Grants from the Foundation inspire, ensure, and enhance the outstanding learning experience Sylacauga students consistently receive. To date, the Foundation has awarded more than $1.4 million in the areas of technology, fine arts, literacy, math, reading, STEM, and library enhancements which has affected more than 382,000 students. This is amazing, and all families and teachers should be grateful to those who had the foresight to establish the Foundation in 1988, making it the first in the state of Alabama for K-12 education. Throughout these years children and now grandchildren have benefitted.

The current endowment of over $1.9 million is a substantial base, but unfortunately not enough to fully fund the school system’s growing needs. Your partnership with the Foundation is crucial to its continued ability to supplement Sylacauga City Schools. Donations must continue; pledges must be made; and the corpus of the endowment must continue to grow. Sylacauga is an outstanding community because of its residents, its leadership, and its school system. Partner with us; invest with us. You will see the daily impact your gift has for decades to come.
